About ME

Hi, I'm Tyler. I was born and raised in Vermont, but I've been living in BC for 15 years now. I work in graphic design and accessibility. Designing for low vision and diverse perception takes clarity, collaboration, and a thoughtful approach to tools and medium. The goal is to make things that work a bit better for everyone. I use the same ingredients in traditional graphic design. If you have questions about design, type, accessibility, or just need recommendations for getting outside in BC, don't hesitate, reach out.

OVERVIEW

I started and lead Optical, a variable font web tool for varied low vision. I do research, project management, web, identity and some type design. The project is based on feedback from experts in the low vision, type and technology communities, including a bunch of great people associated with the Disability Alliance of BC, the Advanced Reading Technologies team at Microsoft, the Readability Consortium, Google, and the Health Design Lab. I've delivered 150+ projects and thousands of individual assets for Arc'teryx, including creative and production design on identity, digital, print, icon, type, and motion for mainline, ReGear, films, academies, System A, collaborations, and events. Learn more →

I assembled and produced the custom font files for the Love Scarborough campaign which helped raise over $1 billion for an underfunded hospital network in Toronto, working with Ogilvy and Liiift. Learn more →

I contributed web, type, identity, and wayfinding design to projects with the Health Design Lab for Aide Canada (national intellectual disabilities resource network), Dementia Lab, and the BC Cancer Agency.
